Savor a taste of Hokkaido at Kiyosato Shochu Distillery
The Kiyosato area is known for its pristine natural spring water that flows down from nearby Mount Shari. This makes it ideal for producing shochu, a traditional Japanese distilled spirit made from grains or vegetables. The pure water of the mountains combined with Hokkaido-grown potatoes creates a unique flavor of shochu. Try "Hokkaido Kiyosato," a brand of shochu made at the Kiyosato Shochu Distillery and see first-hand how this special beverage is made on a distillery tour.
The Kiyoru Information Center next door provides sightseeing information and houses a cafe specializing in local delicacies. Visitors can pick up local specialty products in the gift shop and or simply enjoy the view of Mount Shari.
Please note that during the winter months, occasionally, tours of the distillery are not available.
