Explore the highest moorlands in Japan on a guided walk
Abounding alpine flowers and endless horizons await visitors to the Sarobetsu wetlands, Japan’s highest moorlands, on the northwestern coast of Hokkaido. Gaze upon diverse flora and fauna as you walk along an elevated boardwalk over a sea of lush wetland grasses dotted with flowers. The flat horizon between the vast blue sky and green grass would appear infinite if it were not for the magnificent views of distant mountains. The walk is leisurely and accessible, and an expert guide is on hand to answer any questions you may have about this fascinating ecosystem.
