Wake up to views of Shirakumonoike Pond near Unzen Onsen Hot Spring Village

Set up camp at Shirakumonoike Campground, a charming campsite at Shirakumonoike Pond, at the foot of Mount Kinugasa. This campsite has been a favorite for tourists summering in the area for around 90 years. On clear days, you can wake up to views of Mount Myoken, Mount Fugen, and Mount Heisei-Shinzan reflected in the pond. From the top of Mount Kinugasa, once called Sunset Hill, you can see Unzen Onsen Hot Spring District and steam rising from the volcanic Unzen Jigoku. To the west, you can watch the sun set over Tachibana Bay. In autumn, the views are vibrant, with foliage adding a burst of color to the scenery.

The campground is easy to reach, just 15 minutes on foot and five minutes by car from Unzen Onsen Hot Spring Village. It is also possible to enjoy day camping and barbecuing here.
