Planning a trip on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route? Don’t miss Mikurigaike Pond!

Located at 2,400 meters above sea level in the Murodo area, Mikurigaike Pond is one of the most picturesque crater lakes in the Tateyama Mountain Range - and a must-see highlight of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.⛰️

From July to October, the lake’s surface turns into a crystal-clear mirror, reflecting the surrounding peaks in breathtaking detail. On a clear day, the deep blue water and panoramic mountain views make this one of the best scenic spots in the Northern Japan Alps. As the snow melts in early July, lush greenery begins to emerge - signaling the start of the summer hiking season in Toyama. A well-maintained trail circles the lake, allowing visitors to complete a relaxing walk in about 40 minutes, making it an ideal stop for casual hikers and photographers alike. 🥾🌿 🗺️

Getting there: Take the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route from either Tateyama Station or Ogizawa Station to Murodo Station.
From the station, Mikurigaike is just a 10-minute walk - perfect for a quick nature escape.

📍 Location: Mikurigaike Pond, Murodo Plateau, Toyama
