Enjoy the Countryside of Kyoto at Furumaya House

A family-run farmstay experience offering fine dining and the relaxation of rural life

There's more to Kyoto than just the city, with its temples and traditional streetscapes. Located in the scenic countryside about 75 km north of Kyoto city proper and surrounded by lush green hills is Furumaya House. At this family-run eco-friendly bed and breakfast, you can connect with locals and experience the rural life of Japan in a way few tourists can.
The charming, thatched-roof farmhouse dates back over 200 years, and has been renovated to offer modern comfort. There are two Japanese-style guest rooms, one with tatami traditional straw flooring and the other with wood flooring, both with traditional futon bedding. Each room also has an outside terrace where you can sit down, relax and enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding rice paddies and valleys.

The stay includes a home-cooked Japanese dinner and breakfast featuring dishes made from home-grown ingredients from the fields or purchased from local markets. Vegetarian and vegan options can also be made upon request.
Guests can also take part in a host of cultural activities from Japanese cooking lessons, vegetable harvesting, and more. See a different side of Kyoto and enjoy the unique comforts and peace of mind that Japan's countryside has to offer.
