Bike Around the Pastoral Town of Hida
Enjoy a day outdoors exploring traditional culture, nature, and country life
Get deeper into Japan and its culture with a guided bike tour through Maze Village in rural Gifu Prefecture. Hop aboard a rental electric bicycle and take a leisurely tour of the countryside, and you'll be sure to discover a new side of Japan.
There are three options for the Maze E-Bike Tour: the full-day, the half-day, and the premium tour. The full-day tour is six hours long and takes you through 26 kilometers of rural area, up and down hills and along babbling streams. Along the way, your guide will teach you all about the history of the town, introduce you to local residents, and, at lunch, share the local delicacies.
The half-day tour covers almost the same route as the full-day tour in 3.5 hours. The premium tour (available for groups only) is 7.5 hours and includes a kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese dining) lunch and farm experience.
All of the tours are great for experiencing the beautiful outdoors and nature that Japan has to offer, with an intimacy that can only be achieved on a bicycle and with the help of a local guide.
Access: From Nagoya Station, take the Hida limited express train to Takayama Station (about two hours 24 minutes), then walk about 17 minutes to the tour office.
Maze is easily accessible within 2.5 hours by train or car from Nagoya's Chubu Centrair International Airport.
