See the Aso Volcano's active crater and ride through beautiful grasslands on our special e-bike tour

Aso City Tourism Association

Within one of the world's largest calderas, you'll discover the Aso Volcano, home to Japan's largest expanse of grassland, the "Millennium Grasslands," where people have coexisted with nature for over a millennium. This invaluable farmland, central to the livelihood in the Aso area, has been carefully preserved for activities like grazing and grass harvesting, rendering it off-limits to most travelers.

On this tour, you'll step into a realm of wonder with our expert guides, riding electric mountain bikes through the captivating beauty of the Millennium Grasslands. You'll also visit the awe-inspiring central cone of the Aso Volcano, where steam gracefully rises from the crater. The grasslands, steeped in Aso's rich history, are usually inaccessible to travelers, but we've secured special access.

Escape weekend traffic and parking hassles to connect with Aso's essence—the rhythmic pulse of the land and the gentle breezes of the meadows. A portion of your tour fee directly supports vital preservation efforts, including controlled burning, which is essential for conserving the grasslands.
Join us on this extraordinary adventure, where you'll become a guardian of these precious grasslands. Explore Aso's captivating beauty, uncover its hidden gems, and revel in an unforgettable experience.
