Farmhouse Stay in Ishikawa Prefecture

Experience farm life and craftsmanship in the mountains of Ishikawa Prefecture, in a renovated 100-year-old farmhouse in Komatsu

Komatsu Products Network

Nestled in the mountains of Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, is the little hamlet of Takigahara. Here, young residents who have escaped the city for a life in nature have partnered with longtime locals to create a contemporary village, combining traditional farm life with modern tastes.

Guests can experience this new style of farm life at Takigahara Craft & Stay, a sleek guesthouse located in a renovated 100-year-old farmhouse. Join your new neighbors in their daily farming, learn crafts from local artisans, hike the nearby mountains, forage in the forests, and swim in the rivers.

The intimate space allows you to connect with fellow guests and locals, over meals of vegetables and meats raised in Takigahara, or a communal soak at the nearby historic Awazu Onsen.

And there’s plenty to enjoy even without staying overnight: farmer’s markets, craft workshops and community meals are organized regularly, and the Takagihara Café is a great place to recharge after a hike.

A variety of accommodation plans from bunk beds to suites are available, all with breakfast included, and optional dinner courses. Those seeking more privacy may also consider the private farmstay inn, Takagihara House.

How to get there

From Tokyo Station, take the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Kanazawa Station (about 3 hours). Switch to the JR train to Kaga Onsen Station (about 25 minutes). From Kaga Onsen Station, Takigahara is 20 minutes away by car or taxi.
