Camp under the stars on the grasslands along the Tanesashi Coast in Aomori Prefecture
Tohoku Tourism Promotion Organization
The rolling natural grasslands of the Tanesashi Coast in Sanriku Fukko National Park are a reminder of the pasturelands that once covered this northerly region.
Experience this coastal area during an overnight glamping stay. No need to lug around camping gear, as everything will be set up for you.
Check in at the site, then head out to explore Tanesashi's natural grassland, the rocky formations along the seashore, and take a short hike to Yodo no Matsubara, a grove of 100-year old pine trees right on the coast that resembles an ink painting, or a longer trek to Kabushima Shrine. Trails are well-marked, as this area is part of the Michinoku Coastal Trail, a long-distance hiking route.
In the evening, enjoy meals in the great outdoors lovingly prepared by our resident chef, such as a BBQ featuring local ingredients, including prized beef. Warm up with a glass or two of hot wine and other beverages while relaxing around the campfire.
At night, lie on the grass snuggled inside a sleeping bag and gaze up at the starry sky. Once you are ready to go to sleep, head to the spacious tents, where cozy beds and futons are prepared. Be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves and the sea breeze.
