There are various types of terrain that change with the season, so you’ll never have the same experience twice. Ski resort slopes are one thing, but Hachimantai’s backcountry is not an experience to be missed.
How to get there
From Tokyo Station, take the Tohoku Shinkansen to Morioka Station (about 2 hours 15 minutes). From Morioka Station, take a Northern Iwate Transportation bus from bay #3 bound for “Hachimantai-chojo” and ride to the “Matsuo-Kozan-Shiryokan” bus stop (about 1 hour 20 minutes).
