Japanese swords not only possess excellent functionality as weapons and the strength to cut steel, but are also objects of beauty and spirit. Learn about this incredible beauty and spirit that resides in Japanese swords by receiving instruction directly from swordsmith Shohei Fujiyasu on either a two-day or four-day tour in Japan’s Tohoku region. In 1975, Fujiyasu set up his own swordsmith shop, and he has been performing sword dedication at prestigious shrines in Japan.

On the first day of the two-day/one-night taxi tour, you will appreciate Japanese swords, observe sword smithing (the process of making the base of a Japanese sword), and experience hammering and copper plate inscription cutting. After you stay at a hot spring hotel in Fukushima City in Fukushima Prefecture, on the second day, we will take you to a Japanese lunch featuring Fukushima City's specialties and a temple or shrine in Fukushima City.

The four-day/three-night taxi tour is a trip in which you can learn how to make a small sword directly from swordsmith Shohei Fujiyasu. Through the training experience, you will be able to create your own small sword using the same material, tama-hagane (steel made from iron sand), and process used for Japanese swords, making your creation a uniquely personal treasure.
