The Niyodo River’s vibrant hue has inspired a name of its own, Niyodo Blue. Immerse yourself in the pure azure glow of this clear river, the pride of Kochi Prefecture, in a transparent kayak (or on a SUP board).

The experienced guides at the Niyodogawa Outdoor Center will take you to a beautiful basin fed with water from the Yasui Gorge, one of the best spots in the area to see the glorious blue of the river. When the sun hits the water, it looks like you are floating on air.

The section of river where the tour takes place is calm, so beginner kayak and SUP enthusiasts and children are welcome to join the fun. Be sure to choose the free drone and photo footage option to capture your visit and the beauty of this pristine little corner of Kochi.

The town of Niyodogawa also offers riverside hiking, cafes serving treats made with locally grown tea, canyoning adventures, the Blue Brew craft beer brewery, soothing hot springs, and comfortable accommodation options, making it an ideal side trip from Kochi City for outdoorsy visitors.
