HYOGO TOURISM BUREAU
Nijigen no Mori is a sensational theme park that combines the worlds of Japanese manga, anime, and gaming with the latest technology. Located just southwest of Osaka, in Hyogo Prefectural Park on Awaji Island, visit as a day trip or stay overnight at the Grand Chariot Hokutoshichisei135°, a glamping facility with cottages within the park itself.
In the Crayon Shin-chan Adventure Park, glide over treetops and a lake on 225-meter and 140-meter ziplines as you are squirted by water cannons, and test your fitness on a huge, fort-like athletics course. There are four courses of varying difficulty levels to accommodate everyone from children to adults. Meanwhile, key characters from two ninja manga and anime series, “Naruto” and “Boruto: Next Generations,” will give you the chance to train as a ninja in a recreation of the Hidden Leaf Village, complete with a replica of Hokage Rock—the Mount Rushmore–like monument to the leaders of the Hidden Leaf Village that all fans of the manga series will recognize.
The park also has a “life-size” Godzilla, measuring 23 meters (75 feet) high, 25 meters (82 feet) wide, and 55 meters (180 feet) long. It is part of the Godzilla Interception Operation Awaji attraction, where you can take on the role of a scientist helping to tame the huge kaiju and go on a thrilling zipline ride through Godzilla’s mouth.
Another new attraction opened in May 2021 was DRAGON QUEST ISLAND: Zoma and the Archipelago’s Origin, an outdoor role-playing (RPG) attraction where you become the protagonist of the story and explore the world of Dragon Quest through a fusion of real and digital elements.
Nijigen no Mori uses the latest technology to create fantasy attractions that will make you feel as though you have been pulled into the hit stories of Japanese pop culture. No matter what your age, you are sure to be captivated.
Take the train from Shin-Osaka Station to Sannomiya Station (about 35 minutes), then take the highway bus from Sannomiya Station to Nijigen no Mori (about 45 minutes).
