Enjoy a brewery tour and seasonal craft beer with waterside views, conveniently located by Kochi City Port
Kochi Prefecture
With a pint of locally brewed craft beer in hand, step out onto the green hillside overlooking the Tosa Bay and Pacific Ocean at South Horizon Brewing in Kochi Prefecture. This stylish brewery and eatery that aims to revitalize Kochi through the power of craft beer and community opened in July 2023, and has already become a hot spot for beer lovers in Kochi City.
Visitors can join tours of the brewery, which is free if reservations are made in advance, and learn about how local Kochi yuzu and salt ingredients are incorporated into certain craft beers. Although the brewery tour does not allow sampling, there is a shop where you can buy a few bottles or cans to take home, as well as an in-house coffee roaster. Afterwards, head to the restaurant for another glass of your favorite brew along with a lineup of dishes also made from local ingredients.
The brewery is also serious about upcycling and sustainability. They plan to turn malt lees produced during brewing into fertilizer for growing local rice, which would then be used as an ingredient for beer. They support hop growers in Kochi and use paper made with typically discarded hop vines to make boxes for shipping beer, business cards, coasters, and more.
How to get there
