Historically, Akita Prefecture’s eponymous canines were bred as hunting dogs. These days, the large, fluffy canines have become popular around the world for their funny expressions and lovable look.
Enjoy meeting, petting, and even walking powerful Akita dogs at Noshiro Kojuso, a kennel that specializes in breeding Akita dogs in Noshiro City, Akita Prefecture. The facility is run by one of Japan's leading Akita breeders, and visitors can get up close to the huge dogs and get to know the breed characteristics.

How to get there
From Tokyo Station, take the Akita Shinkansen to Akita Station (approximately 3 hours 50 minutes). From there, take the Ou Main Line to Kado Station (about 40 minutes). From Kado Station, take the bus to the Kawatogawa Entrance bus stop (about 40 minutes). From there, it is a 5-minute walk to Noshiro Kojuso.
