Eat, drink, and swing over the sea at this foodie-inspiring spot a short drive from Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine

Located along the coastline of the Sea of Japan in Izumo City, the Windy Farm Atmosphere complex opened in May 2023. Part of a project to revitalize the area through locally grown and produced foods, it consists of a restaurant, hotel, and food stall section.
The restaurant, Garb Cliff Terrace Izumo, serves dishes made with local ingredients cooked on a firewood stove. You can enjoy award-winning Shimane wagyu beef while watching the sun set over the waves.
For a more relaxing experience, stay at Izumo Hotel the Cliff. The hotel is built into the cliff overlooking the sea, and each room is equipped with a private outdoor jacuzzi so you can enjoy the views from the comfort of your own room. A sauna is also available for hotel guests.
If you are just passing through, stop to try the food stalls, which offer a variety of treats, including Shimane wagyu hamburgers, original blended coffee, and ice cream made with local ingredients. Don’t forget to take a turn on the swing overlooking the sea for stunning photos.
The complex also hosts events such as farmers markets, live music festivals, and seasonal celebrations.
How to get there
From Haneda Airport, take a flight to Izumo Airport (about 1 hour) and then drive or take a 35-minute taxi ride. The complex is a 20-minute drive from Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine.
