DAY 1

This is a trip to Yamaguchi and Fukuoka, where there are many beautiful spots to visit. First, you will go to Yuda Onsen, a hot spring known for skin whitening. After checking in at the inn, you will go to the five-story pagoda of Rurikoji Temple, one of the three most famous pagodas in Japan. The five-story pagoda of Rurikoji Temple stands in harmony with the natural surroundings and is designated as a national treasure. The precincts of the temple are called Kozan Park surrounds the temple and is known for its cherry blossoms and plum blossoms.

DAY 2

After checking out, board the Yamaguchi Zekkei Mankitsu Bus and head to Tsunoshima, with its white sandy beach and emerald green sea. Enjoy the spectacular view of the blue sea and the 1,780 meter long Tsunoshima Bridge from the bus window. For accommodation, go to Otani Sanso (Villa Otozure) in Nagato-Yumoto Onsen. Soak up the greenery of the mountains and the mountain streams nearby as you rest and relax.

DAY 3

Take the JR train, which takes about 40 minutes, from Nagato-Yumoto Sta. to Hagi Sta. After a hearty prepared with local seafood and mountain delicacies, enjoy walking around the city, a castle town with mountains, the sea, and islands. You can try your hand at making Hagi ware, a ceramic ware produced mainly in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is characterized by its unique soft texture. Touch the warmth of Hagi ware and create a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

DAY 4

On the fourth day, visit Akiyoshidai Plateau. It takes 20 minutes by JR train from Nagato-Yumoto to Ofuku Sta., and then 20 minutes by taxi. The main attraction is Akiyoshi Cave, a limestone cave located 100 to 200 meters underground. Climbing up the rocky surface is a thrilling challenge. Rent an electric mountain bicycle from the Tourist Information Center and enjoy a refreshing ride around the karst plateau with its magnificent nature of countless stones lying on the grassland and Benten Pond with its beautiful clear blue water. In the afternoon, head to Moji, where you will be staying.

DAY 5

Rent a kimono and stroll around Moji Port. Moji Port is a retro cityscape of restored buildings from the days when it was a prosperous port town. After that, you will take a walk around the lively Karato Market and Shimonoseki, where you will find many sushi restaurants. For lunch, try the famous fugu set meal. In the afternoon, go to Hinoyama Park and take the ropeway to the summit of the mountain for a panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea and the Sea of Japan.

DAY 6

After checking out, walk across the Kanmon Straits, a major artery of maritime traffic connecting the Sea of Japan and the Seto Inland Sea from the Kyushu side (Moji) to the Honshu side (Yamaguchi)! It is 780 meters long and it takes about 10 minutes on foot. In the afternoon, you will head to Fukuoka and explore the city.
