The city of Kobayashi in the western part of Miyazaki Prefecture has to its north Kyushu Central Mountain Range and to its south the alluvial fan of the Kirishima Mountain Range. The temperature differences between daytime and nighttime have a dramatic effect, not just on how the area looks as the seasons change, but also on the quality of its agricultural products. One of the best examples of this blessing of nature is grapes, of which there are many kinds. In the Sakashita area, home to many famous tourist farms, which are open to the public in early August, there is a famous festival offering prayers for a good crop. From then on until late October, you can enjoy picking plump grapes and “nashi” (Japanese pears). The enjoyment and fulfilment you get when you fill your mouth with freshly picked, juicy fruits is priceless!
Not having an entrance fee and providing a big parking lot, these farms attract solo visitors and families from both inside and outside the prefecture, Try picking your own superb-quality fruit and eat it right on the spot!
