Picnics, baseball, and cherry blossoms in a park that still has virgin forest

Hokkaido Shrine , Maruyama Field, and Sakashita Baseball Stadium are all in Maruyama Park. It is a nice area for a walk and a great place to have a barbecue during the cherry blossom season.

How to Get There

You can get to the park by train.

From Sapporo Station , take the Namboku subway line to Odori Station, then transfer to a Tozai line subway train and head west toward Miyanosawa. Get off at Maruyama-Koen Station.

This park still contains virgin forest

This huge 439,000-square-meter area contains magnolias, maple, oak, Japanese Judas, cherry, and other varieties of trees. It has also been designated as a natural monument.

Take a walk up to Maruyama Zoo from the station. A long wooden walkway that goes through a forest is a great place for bird and Ezo squirrel watching.
