Kamisuwa Onsen Sake Brewery Tour

Enjoy a tour of five Suwa sake breweries in Kamisuwa, and sample the sake of each along the way. Meander the street, eat delicious foods, and enjoy your time in the Suwa area with this great event.

How to Get There

Access the event via public transportation.

Kamisuwa Onsen is an easy two-hour journey via the Limited Express Azusa from Tokyo's Shinjuku. From the station, all the breweries are along the main road.

Make the most of touring five Suwa breweries

Five sake breweries—Maihime, Reijin, Honkin, Yokobue, and Masumi—stand side by side just 500 meters from the Koshu Kaido Road in Kamisuwa. The five breweries have been making sake since the mid-1600s, taking advantage of the water from nearby Mt. Kirigamine and the area's cool climate. The "Five Suwa Sake Breweries" offer a "Gokuraku Set," which allows you to sample the products of each brewery so you can try to find your favorite. (Please note there are times when sake tasting may be suspended.

More to explore

Before or after the Nomiaruki Brewery Crawl, spend some more time in the Suwa area ; explore the mysteries of Suwa-taisha Shrine , hike in the Yatsugatake Mountains , or just rent a bicycle and ride in the area around Lake Suwa.

Nomiaruki tips

Enjoy an onsen before sampling the sake. Kamisuwa is famous for its onsen, but alcohol and hot baths don't mix well. If you want your bath with a place to stay, make sure to book accommodations in advance. If Kamisuwa is full, try Chino, Okaya, Shimosuwa, or even Matsumoto for somewhere to stay.
