The gorge is located in the middle of Nakayamadaira Onsen and Naruko Onsen stations, a 35-minute walk from each.
A seasonal bus operates from Naruko Onsen, though it can be crowded during the autumn season, so plan accordingly.
Journey to the gorge from late October to early November and witness brilliant oranges, golden yellows, and crimson reds of the mountainside. Start off at the Narukokyo Resthouse and make your way to the adjacent viewing platform to see Ofukazawa Bridge.
The steep stairs by the resthouse go all the way to the bottom of the deep gorge. The Naruko Gorge Walking Trail begins here, where you can view of the rushing river and the rocky walls around.
Most of the trail is still closed (as of November 2017) due to necessary repairs related to the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, but you can go up to Ofukazawa Bridge, where you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.
