Retro Relaxation at Auberge Toyooka 1925

An antique hotel stay that lets you travel back in time

While Japan is no stranger to cutting-edge accommodations, sometimes it’s more enjoyable to take a step back in time. At Auberge Toyooka 1925, you’ll find yourself immersed in Taisho-period (1912–1926) ambience, as the hotel makes use of a historic former bank building from that era.

Recognized as a Tangible Cultural Property, the structure now houses six elegant guest rooms featuring dark wood trim, classic old-fashioned desks, and comfortable Western-style beds. The common spaces mix the old bank atmosphere with retro-chic style, making for a unique space perfect for snapping photos and creating memories.

The hotel restaurant aims to please by offering dishes centered around regional Toyooka delicacies. The area is known across Japan for the quality of its chestnuts, mushrooms, and soybeans, as well as for its top-grade Tajima beef. Meals at Auberge Toyooka 1925 represent the perfect fusion of these local ingredients with French cooking techniques.

Toyooka is just a short train ride from the hot spring town of Kinosaki Onsen, where visitors can relax with a stroll along the willow-lined river and a soak in one of the numerous public baths.

Access: From Shin-Osaka Station, take the Konotori Express train to Toyooka Station (about two hours 35 minutes), then walk about 10 minutes to the hotel.
