Tour the hometown of the creator of this hit manga series

Hita city

Fans of the hit manga Attack on Titan will want to make a pilgrimage to Hita City in Kyushu’s Ōita Prefecture. Isayama Hajime, the creator of the manga on which the animated series is based, was born in Hita. In his honour, bronze statues of the main characters from the series have been erected around the town.

At the foot of the 94m tall Oyama Dam you will find statues of Eren and his childhood friends Mikasa and Armin. The trio are posed looking up at the dam wall as they would be looking at the Wall Maria in Attack on Titan. Another bronze statue is that of beloved character Levi Ackerman, located in front of JR Hita station.

Be sure to also visit the free Attack on Titan in HITA Museum to view the exhibits on the manga series, including some of Isayama’s original drawings.
