A cycling tour by the blooming sunflowers in Sakura Furusato Square

Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture

At Sakura Furusato Square, you can enjoy seasonal flowers, and many people visit the park throughout the year. It hosts the Tulip Festa in April, where tulips bloom in one of the largest sizes in the Kanto region. In July, 15,000 sunflowers bloom at the Sunflower Festa. In August, a fireworks display is held along the banks of the Inba Marsh as the Sakura Hanabi Festa. And in October, 500,000 cosmos bloom at the Cosmos Festa.

The Dutch windmill in the park, called the Liefde, was built by Dutch engineers, with the mechanism manufactured in Holland. It is a rare windmill that is powered solely by wind power. The wind turbines are operated on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, substitute holidays, or when city events are held at Sakura Furusato Square.

You can enjoy the scenery by cycling along the fields or by taking a tour of the lake on the sightseeing boats. We also recommend sampling the cold soft serve ice cream made with locally produced milk, which is perfect for hot summers.

How to get there

From Narita Airport, take the Keisei Line to either Keisei-Sakura Station (25 minutes) or Keisei-Usui Station (30 minutes). Sakura Furusato Square is about a 40-minute walk from either station.
