Hiroshima Prefecture is a welcoming tourist destination, home to two World Cultural Heritage sites; Itsukushima Shrine well known for the O-torii (Grand Torii Gate) standing in the sea, and the Atomic Bomb Dome in the Peace Memorial Park surrounded by rivers and lush greenery.
Shimanami Kaido, selected as one of the world's seven best cycling roads, is also a famous for its spectacular scenery of beautiful seas and citrus islands, and has attracted cycling enthusiasts from all over the world.
As for food, Hiroshima is the largest producer of fresh oysters for those that enjoy an acquired taste, and Saijo in Hiroshima, is among the three major sake brewing areas in Japan along with Nada in Hyogo and Fushimi in Kyoto for sake lovers.
