Enjoy blooming peonies all year round at the beautiful garden of Yuushien in Daikon-shima
Yuushien is a beautiful and tranquil Japanese garden located on Daikon-shima, a small island in Matsue that takes its name from the daikon radish. In Daikon-shima, which is also famous for its production of Asian ginseng, peonies bloom all around the island every spring, but in Yuushien you can admire them all year round thanks to its climate-controlled peony house. The best time to view peonies in Yuushien is late-April to early-May when you can enjoy special displays you won't find anywhere else in Japan, such as the stunning view of 30,000 peonies arranged on one of the garden's ponds. You can easily access Yuushien with a 50-minute ride on the Matsue City Bus (route 70 Yatsuka/Yuushien Iriguchi) from Matsue Station (bus stop 6).
