Spring scenery of the Buddha statue surrounded by cherry blossoms in the Tsubosaka-dera Temple
Built around 717 AD with a mixture of Japanese and Indian styles, Tsubosaka-dera Temple is one of the most unique temples of Japan. In the temple grounds, there are several Indian style Buddhas, a Taj Mahal-style sanctuary, and bas-relief carvings all in white stone, which were given as a gift from India in thanks for the temple’s work to help leprosy sufferers. The temple is also known for its healing abilities. Cherry blossom trees are planted around the Buddha statue, and in the spring, you can see the Sakura Daibutsu, which is the sight of Buddha covered in cherry blossoms.
