Hiroshima Prefectural Beach

HOME > Japan’s Local Treasures > Hiroshima Prefectural Beach

A beautiful beach offering various activities both in the waters and on the land

Kure City

The Hiroshima Prefectural Beach is a multi-purpose recreation facility. Here, you can enjoy a diverse array of activities from swimming and sea kayaking in the waters to playing tennis on the land. The beautiful sandy beach stretching along the coast has been chosen as one of Japan’s best 100 beaches, and in summer, this place attracts many swimmers. Near this beach, you can try your hand at an ancient salt-making method, relax in a public hot spring bath named “Yasuragi no Yakata,” and spend a night at an accommodation called “Kagayaki no Yakata” or one of the available cottages. At the astronomical observation center situated on a hill by the beach, you can do some interstellar sightseeing by gazing at countless stars shining in the night sky above the Seto Inland Sea, with one of the largest Maksutov telescopes in the country.

How to get there

It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Shin-Osaka Station to Hiroshima Station via the Sanyo Shinkansen, and about 1.5 hours from Hiroshima Station by car.
