A private garden in Kitakyushu featuring two spectacular wisteria tunnels

Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture

Kawachi Wisteria Garden is a private garden established in 1977. In spring, from late April to early May, a total of 22 types of wisteria bloom across 10,000 square meters. The garden was chosen as one of Japan's 31 Most Beautiful Places by CNN and attracts visitors from all over the world.

The main attractions of the garden include two stunning wisteria tunnels, one 80 meters long and the other 110 meters long. The garden is also known for its beautiful autumn leaves. About 700 colorful trees fill the garden with crimson foliage in autumn.

How to get there

From Hakata Station, take the Shinkansen bullet train to Ogura Station (about 15 minutes). Kawachi Wisteria Garden is about a 30-minute drive from the station.
