Cherry Blossoms off the beaten path in Kinosaki Onsen
In just a few months, winter in Japan will melt into spring, and reveal the coveted cherry blossoms. Visitors to Japan can see sakura all over, and Kinosaki Onsen and its surrounding areas are no exception. One great place to see the sakura both during the day and at night is in Kinosaki Onsen along Kiyamachi Street near Ichino-yu, one of the town’s seven public onsen. Sakura line the small canal and create a soft pink canopy for nearly 1 kilometer, stretching all the way back to the ropeway. At night the pink lanterns glow softly, creating a romantic atmosphere perfect for an evening stroll between onsen and shop visits. Visitors to Kinosaki Onsen can enhance their experience amongst the sakura with a yukata rental and a professional photoshoot. Although most ryokan in town offers their own yukata included in a guest’s stay, the town’s yukata shop & rental (IROHA) offers a wider variety with many different colors and designs. Guests can choose from a wide selection of stylish yukata to rent for the day.
