Learn traditional metalwork and metal finishing techniques as you make a own one-of-a-kind souvenir

Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture

Orii Gallery Hachinokura is located in the Yamacho Valley, an area of Takaoka City known for its traditional storehouses. The gallery is decorated throughout with blue copper plating, which lends it a refreshing, airy atmosphere. Here you can find a wide range of metal craft products, from original items to building materials and nameplates.

At the Momentum Factory Orii, metal coloring demonstrations are given from time to time. This class offers the unique experience of changing metal surfaces through coloring. Learn how to apply traditional Japanese metal coloring techniques to trays and coasters and make your own one-of-a-kind creation.

How to get there

From Tokyo Station, take the Shinkansen bullet train to Shin-Takaoka Station (about 3 hours). The gallery is about 10 minutes away by car.
