Welcome to Okinawa Zoo & Museum, a special place that combines a zoo and a children’s museum, where the main theme is “Enjoy Experiencing and Learning!” Located in the southernmost part of Japan, we aim to be the most unique zoo in the country. We use the warm, tropical climate to make a good home for about 1,000 animals from around 150 different species.

Okinawa is often called the “Galapagos of the East” because it has many special animals only found here living in unique environments. Besides conserving these local animals, we also have animals from all over the world, making our zoo a diverse showcase of different kinds of animals.

Explore “Wonder Museum,” the only children’s museum in Okinawa. Our motto is "Understanding and Creation begins in Wonder," and we have lots of hands-on exhibits and workshops about science, philosophy, and art. This indoor facility is perfect for days when it’s raining or very hot.

You can also have special experiences like feeding the animals, fishing, riding ponies, and more. Join us to create amazing memories at Okinawa Zoo & Museum.
