Stroll along the slopes lined with 10,000 red and white plum trees

Every year from mid-February to the end of March in the Tsukigase area of Nara City, Nara Prefecture, approximately 10,000 red and white plum tree blossoms in full bloom spread along the slopes of the valley. Tsukigase Plum Valley has been one of the most popular plum flower viewing spots in the Kansai region. Matsuo Basho, one of the best-known Haiku poets of the 16th century, expressed his amazement in his Haiku poetry, which can be found inscribed on a stone monument standing in the valley. You can also enjoy the views of about 3,000 cherry blossoms in early April.
How to get there
From Shin-Osaka Station: Take the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line to Namba Station (about 15 minutes) and walk to Kintetsu Osaka-Namba Station. Take the Kintetsu-Nara Line Rapid-Express to Kintetsu-Nara station (about 40 minutes) and take the bus to Oyama or Ume no Sato Tsukigase Onsen (about 1 hour 20 minutes).
