In Asakusa, the Tori no Ichi event will be held at Chokokuji Temple and the adjacent Otori Shrine. Tori no Ichi is held at shrines and temples throughout Japan on the lunar calendar's day of the roosterin November. During this festival, people wish for good luck and fortune and business prosperity.
Tori no Ichi has been held since Japan’s Edo Period. The day of the festival bustles with activity until late at night, and features gorgeous rakes lined up glittering with gold and silver, and powerful voices flying throughout.
Tori no Ichi will be held on three days this year – November 5, 17, and 29!
