Changes are coming to JR East train passes for easier use

The East Japan Railway Company (JR East) offers various regional rail passes to meet the needs of foreign tourists visiting Japan. Starting April 1, 2021, they will be introducing new services to make these passes even more convenient for foreign tourists.

Tourists will soon be able to:

- Use passes at automatic ticket gates for both Shinkansen and local train lines

- Purchase passes at the Reserved Seat Ticket Vending Machines

- Reserve seats via the Reserved Seat Ticket Vending Machines

Pricing revisions will also take effect when the new service begins on April 1, 2021 (Japan Standard Time).
