Kyushu’s Largest Sake Festival is Back for the First Time in 3 Years

Blessed with good quality water and rice, the Chikugo and Jojima area in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture has been producing sake since the mid-Edo period. In February, when the year’s new brew of sake is made, the area hosts Kyushu’s largest sake event – the Jojima Sake Festival, where several of the local breweries are open to the general public. This year will mark the first time in three years that the festival is held, running from Saturday February 18th to Sunday February 19th 2023.

Each year there are plenty of events to be enjoyed, including sampling fresh sake, as well as food, drink, music, and festivities! Free shuttle buses will run between each of the participating breweries, allowing attendees to enjoy each of their unique atmospheres, and different brews of sake.
