Tochigi City, a Riverside City of Warehouses with a Retro Atmosphere

【Partners Information】Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture, known as the ""city of warehouses"", has prospered since the Edo period (1603-1868) due to the shipping and trade enabled by the Uzuma River, which flows through it.

There are still many historical buildings that remain from the Edo period, which makes strolling through the town feel almost as though you were on a trip back in time. Koinobori (carp streamers) were on display along the Uzuma River until May 10th of this year, in celebration of Children's Day.

Gelateria Sakura, a home-made gelato shop, is located near to the main street of this town of warehouses. Their authentic Italian gelato, made with traditional Italian methods, makes the best use of the flavors of natural ingredients. Be sure to stop by Gelateria Sakura when you find yourself on a stroll around Tochigi City!
