Feel Ozu: Mesmerizing Walking Tours in Ozu, Ehime Prefecture

Discover the extraordinary history and nature of this beautiful castle town.

Visit Ozu City, bordering the Seto Inland Sea in the western part of Ehime Prefecture, and take in rich history and bountiful nature. Be enchanted by the traditional architecture and streetscape, set amidst the picturesque Hiji River that flows tranquilly through the heart of the town. Join one of Feel Ozu’s mesmerizing walking tours—led by experienced English-speaking guides—and savor the beauty and spirit of this delightful location.

Choose among three different tours according to your area of interest. If you’re a fan of Japanese history and want to travel back to as far as the Edo period (1603-1867), the Ozu Castle tour, with its nostalgic walk along well-preserved alleys—including visits to traditional confectioneries and blacksmiths—is an ideal choice. For nature and architecture lovers, the Garyu Sanso tour is for you. Enter the spectacular Garyu Sanso Villa and marvel at the mastery of Japanese design, including its moss-covered gardens, exquisite teahouses, and remarkable views over the Hiji River. Outdoor enthusiasts will especially enjoy the Ozu Nature tour, which will take you deep into the heart of the region to explore the Hiji River and its surroundings in detail, including spiritual spots and hidden gems of architecture. These adventures can be enjoyed on foot or on the seat of a bicycle.

Access: From Tokyo Haneda Airport, fly to Matsuyama Airport (about one hour 30 minutes), take the Matsuyama Airport Limousine bus to Matsuyama Station (about 15 minutes), then take the Yosan Line limited express to Iyo-Ozu Station (about 40 minutes) and walk (about 30 minutes) or take a taxi (about 10 minutes) to the castle.
