Ishidaya ESHIKOTO and Expo 2025

Through its pairings of Japanese sake with local ingredients, Ishidaya ESHIKOTO provides luxurious experiences that showcase traditions that have been passed down for generations. The facility’s continuation of this heritage aligns with the Expo theme, "Connecting Lives."

Q1: How does this attraction bring tourists and locals together?

A: Many customers visit Fukui Prefecture for the first time, oftentimes in November, to find sake that pairs well with crab. We use Echizen Tansu (a traditional Japanese chest) to exhibit our store’s sake utensils. By doing so, we aim to attract customers interested in this traditional craft and foster an appreciation for Fukui. Through customer interactions, we strive to convey the charm of Fukui, including its food and crafts. We have also created an English manual to ensure that all staff can effectively communicate the taste of Japanese sake with appropriate expressions.

Q2: What kind of impressions have you got from visitors?

A: Customers visiting ESHIKOTO are consistently impressed by the breathtaking natural scenery from the counter, often expressing sentiments such as "This expansive rural landscape is not something you see every day." Even locals who frequently pass through this area said, "While I usually walk through this area, it wasn't until I actually visited, that I truly appreciated the stunning views and scenery."

Q3: Any message for visitors planning to see Expo 2025?

A: We offer a unique experience where you can enjoy local sake and cuisine in Fukui. The changing seasons provide a dynamic landscape, ensuring a delightful visit any time of the year. Relax in the serene rural scenery, and savor a leisure moment with Japanese sake. We look forward to seeing you at our store!
