JAPAN INDIA TOURISM EXCHANGE YEAR

Journey to Japan in June (Hokkaido)

Japan has four distinctive seasons namely spring, summer, autumn and winter. However, early June to mid- July is monsoon in Japan. To avoid sudden plan changes due to the rains you can plan the tours to Hokkaido in this period. Hokkaido receives very less rain in this season and as it is located at a higher altitude the weather is very pleasant during these months. The minimum is around 12 degrees centigrade, and the maximum is around 20 degrees centigrade. Along with this, the travelers can enjoy the seasonal flower bloom and the curries made with local seasonal ingredients. All these factors make Hokkaido the “go to place” in the months of June and July.

  • Hokkaido is easily accessible by flight from Haneda airport in Tokyo. The flight duration from Tokyo to Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido, is around 1.5 hours.
  • We are overwhelmed to intimate that last February, Aamir Khan Productions shot a film starring Mr. Junaid khan and Ms. Sai Pallavi in the Hokkaido region.

Must visit places:

SAPPOROCITY

  • Being the capital city, is surely a must visit. Although, it is a capital city, but its abundant greenery is prideworthy. The Odori park, stretching approx. 1.5 kilometers divides the city into North and South. The park has about 92 varieties of 4700 trees. It is decorated with colourful seasonal flowerbeds. During this time, you can see acacia and lily flowers. Sapporo TV Tower in the Odori park can be enjoyed throughout the year. The observation deck has bouquet of special attractions like different characters, shrine, shops and cafes.
  • The underground market of Aurora town and Pole town are not only marketplaces but have been developed as towns. They are quite spacious with varieties of shops and cafes and restaurants.
  • The 400m Pole town ends at the Susukino station, the most happening place of the Northern region of Japan. The entertainment district is strewn with café, bars, restaurants, karaoke boxes and shopping centers. The Norbesa is one of the mention worthy facilities. The amazing fact about this facility is that they have a Ferris wheel on the roof-top from where the gorgeous night view can be enjoyed.
  • Sapporo Beer Museum and the Beer café is one more strong attraction point. Here the guests can enjoy exclusively 5-star beer.
  • In the Sapporo Art Park, there are permanent exhibits in the hall as well as pieces of sculptures lying in the open for the guests to enjoy free of cost.

SAPPOROCITY

  • Two hours train ride away from Sapporo station lies this picturesque flower garden of Farm Tomita in Furano. Mostly known for its vibrant seasonal flowers, the lavender flowers grown here are of very high quality. They bloom from the end of June until the end of July

  • A special train called Norokko-go makes a stop at the lavender station from June to August. One can witness how lavender perfumes are made, also can shop for different lavender products. After the long day at the Tomita farm, the guests can cool themselves with lavender flavored soft ice creams!

  • Forty minutes away from Furano is Biei at the foot of Tokachidake Mountain Range. The seasonal flower field with mountains in the background is another world for the photography lovers.

  • The icon of Biei, the Blue Pond was once the desktop wallpaper of Apple Macintosh and hence became the most searched for picture. The colour of the water ranges from bright turquoise to emerald to cobalt. This is due to the impurities in the water from Shirahige falls. It is on the top of the bucket list for the instagrammers.

OTARUCITY

  • This romantic city is just 30 minutes rapid train ride from Sapporo station. This is an old townscape with retro gas lamps, stately stone buildings along the Otaru canal. An evening cruise on the Otaru canal will definitely make a warm memory in your life
