Relish the freedom of experiencing Biei with all your senses
Hill Town Biei DMO
Many visitors to Hokkaido choose to explore the region by rental car. However, paying attention to the road may mean that you miss out on the beautiful scenery. As such, cycling is on the rise as a popular activity in the region. The rolling hills of Biei, part of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages in Japan, are perfect for cycling from spring to fall and offer plenty of photo opportunities. Unlike when driving, a bicycle gives you the freedom to stop and enjoy the view whenever you want. Cycling also allows you to explore the hills of Biei with more of your senses. You will feel the breeze on your skin and smell the earth worked by Biei’s farmers. This connection with the land is what makes a visit to Biei so special. There are many rental cycle shops around JR Biei Station. Electric bikes are recommended due to Biei’s steep hills. The tourism information center nearby also has plenty of maps and other useful resources to help you on your cycling adventure. If you would prefer having company, cycling tours are also available from private operators.
