Stay at Suzaki Ryokan and immerse yourself in the food, beverages, and even historic silk textiles of Chichibu

Saitama Prefecture

Just north of Tokyo, Suzaki Ryokan is a traditional Japanese inn that has been offering accommodations and local cuisine in Chichibu since 1907. The inn also strives to protect Japanese traditional culture, providing guests with a kimono made from a historic local silk textile called Chichibu-meisen.

After donning a Chichibu-meisen kimono, take a stroll through the historic streets of Ogano and visit Jurinji Temple, both perfect places to snap photos. The intricate patterns and vibrant colors of the Chichibu-meisen kimono are designed to complement the natural beauty and streetscape of Chichibu.

Dairyuji Onsen in the inn is a rejuvenating hot spring for travelers that boasts a high pH and is renowned for its beautifying properties. Enjoy the open-air bath where gentle sunlight and moonlight illuminate the surroundings, and feel free to use the indoor bath as well.

Beef, pork, and venison, all local specialties raised in the mountains of Chichibu, are served in the main dishes at Suzaki Ryokan. Guests can indulge in flavorsome natural ingredients, harvested in the best season and cooked in a manner that most brings out the flavor. Chichibu Wine, produced by a long-established winery in Ogano, mead from Deerlet Field Brewery, and other local sake go well with your meal.

How to get there

From Tokyo Station, take the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line to Ikebukuro Station (about 20 minutes). From Ikebukuro Station, take the Seibu Limited Express train Laview to Seibu-Chichibu Station (about 1 hour and 20 minutes). From there, travel about 40 minutes by bus (Seibu Kanko Bus or Ogano Choei Bus) and get off at the Ogano Shako bus stop. A 2-minute walk from the bus stop will take you to Suzaki Ryokan.
