Would you like to experience even more of Japanese culture while visiting the shrines and temples of beautiful Miyajima Island?

A variety of activity plans are available to enhance your visit to Miyajima’s famous “floating shrine.” Nearby, at the venerable Zen temple Tokujuji, you can dress up in traditional kimono while you take a lesson in Japanese calligraphy, participate in a traditional tea ceremony, and make an Omamori lucky charm.

There are many options to choose from depending on your interests. You can rent a kimono to wear while participating in these activities, or simply wear it for a day while strolling around Miyajima, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Different types of kimono for men and women are available (the shortest height is 120 cm, and the largest waist size is

120 cm). Your kimono comes with a matching Japanese-style handbag, hair accessories, and traditional zori sandals.

You are free to stroll around the island, enjoying the scenery and posing for photos with the traditional shrine and temple architecture, surrounded by bright red maples in the autumn or cherry blossoms in the spring. Come experience a memorable time on Miyajima, just a short train and ferry ride from downtown Hiroshima, with your family and friends.

From there, take the JR Sanyo Main Line train to Miyajimaguchi Station (about 30 minutes) and board the ferry (5-minute walk from the station) to Miyajima Island (5 minutes).
