A beautiful emerald-green waterfall

Osumi Tourism and Regional Development

The 46-meter-high, 60-meter-wide Ogawa Waterfall comes into view about 1.2 kilometers along the boardwalk that begins just outside the parking lot. The emerald-green waterfall basin and the way the sunlight glistens on the surrounding sand is so beautiful that it has been called “God's beach.” The best time to visit is around noon, when the sun is at its brightest.

The promenade enables visitors to walk through the history of the Ogawa Waterfall.

It is said that in the distant past, the waterfall was located near the present promenade entrance and slowly eroded away to reach its present location.

Next to the car park is the Aqua Base Cafe, where you can enjoy drinks and sweets made from locally grown fruit and other ingredients. What better reward for your hike to Ogawa Waterfall and back?

There is a multilingual tourist information board at the entrance to the boardwalk.

You can also listen to information about Ogawa Waterfall by scanning the QR code on another information board near the entrance to the boardwalk. (Free Wi-Fi is available at the parking lot and near the boardwalk entrance.)
