The Snow Garden is a unique facility located on the slopes of Ishiuchi Maruyama Ski Resort that offers a glorious panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.
Established in 1949, Ishiuchi Maruyama is one of Niigata Prefecture’s leading ski resorts. Known for its vast grounds, varied terrain, and great snow, it has a big slope that offers superb views of the Minami Uonuma Plain and the Three Mountains of Echigo. You can also ride the Sunrise Express, the world’s most advanced combination lift, which provides extra comfort for families and beginners.
The slopes of Ishiuchi Maruyama are connected to those of GALA Yuzawa and Yuzawa Kogen, so you can enjoy three ski resorts with one ticket.
The Snow Garden is a special treat. Take the gondola from the base of the resort to its terminal midway up the mountain. There you’ll find the Snow Garden, with its unique mid-slope viewing terrace and attractive dome tents for glamping.
Nearby is a café where you can buy drinks as well as pancakes and other sweets. You can bring your order to the Snow Garden and relax there while taking in the spectacular view.
How to get there
From Tokyo Station, take the JR Joetsu Shinkansen to Echigo-Yuzawa Station (about 1 hour and 10 minutes). Ishiuchi Maruyama Ski Resort is about 15 minutes from the station by bus or taxi.
