Toyama Prefecture
Located in the center of Japan, Toyama Prefecture is a scenic destination that offers its visitors breathtaking views of both mountains and sea. Its dynamic and varied topography has an elevation range of 4,000m, from the 3,000m Tateyama Mountain Range to the 1,000m depth of Toyama Bay, which is listed in The Most Beautiful Bay in the World Club.
One of the best ways to explore this beautiful region is certainly by bicycle. Among the several cycling courses of Toyama are the Toyama Bay Cycling Route, which crosses the prefecture for 102km along the coast of Toyama Bay, and the Countryside Cycling Route, which takes you 199km through picturesque country roads.
Designated as a National Cycling Route, on the Toyama Bay Cycling Route you can enjoy magnificent views of the Tateyama Mountain Range towering over Toyama Bay.
Along the Countryside Cycling Route you will find the National Treasure Zuiryuji Temple, where you can experience the history and culture of Toyama.
There are many service facilities for cyclists along these routes, allowing you to enjoy your bike trip with ease and peace of mind.
