See incredible views of the Japanese Alps from Hakuba Mountain Harbor
Nagano Prefecture & Nagano Tourism Organization
This spot is located at the top of Iwatake Ski Resort in Hakuba Valley. With its eye-popping views, it is a hotspot not only in winter, but in other seasons as well. The beautiful terrace of the Hakuba Mountain Harbor offers a spectacular panoramic view of the Hakuba Sanzan three peaks.
Around October every year, you can enjoy the famous Japan Alps’ “Sandan Autumn Leaves.” The three-tiered autumn leaves are beautiful gradations of the three mountains of Hakuba Sanzan three peaks, woven together by the snow on the tops of the mountains, the autumn leaves on the mountainside, and the green of the oak trees.
It is one of the few scenic spots in Japan where you can witness an altitude difference of 2,200m.
In winter, you can enjoy a magnificent winter view of the Japan Alps when sightseeing or while taking a break for skiing and snowboarding. From the terrace, you can also look down on skiers and snowboarders enjoying the Iwatake Back Bowl.
