5 Passes to Get You Around Kanto (with Perks to Boot!)

(Clockwise from top left) Visit Kawagoe, Hakone, and Tokyo on affordable and convenient bus and train passes.

When traveling around Japan, it’s difficult figuring out which tickets you need to purchase for transfer to trains and buses. Sometimes, simply knowing which pass to use can be quite confusing too!

These five passes are not only convenient and affordable, they give you access to some of the most popular tourist attractions in the Kanto region (Tokyo and its surrounding areas), Nikko in the Tochigi Prefecture, Hakone in the Kanagawa Prefecture, and Kawagoe in the Saitama Prefecture. Use these passes to make the most of your Japan travel―and that includes taking social-media-worthy photos!

1. Tokyo Subway Ticket:
Hit up all of the popular sightseeing spots in Kanto for a low price

A Tokyo Subway Ticket gives you access to major tourist destinations in the bustling city from day to night.

The Tokyo Subway Ticket is a transportation pass that allows unlimited rides on Tokyo Metro lines (which has nine lines in central Tokyo) as well as the Toei Subway. Choose from three ticket types: 24-hour ticket, 48-hour ticket, and 72-hour ticket. (Tickets are calculated from the start time instead of the calendar date.)

This ticket is convenient for anyone who wants to travel from Tokyo Station or visit lots of sightseeing spots in Tokyo for a low price.

It covers almost all popular tourist destinations such as Ueno, Asakusa, Tokyo Skytree ®, Roppongi, Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, and more. Be sure to make use of CHIKA TOKU, a perk of the Tokyo Subway Ticket that gives you discounts and gifts at museums, restaurants, and various locations along the pass route.
