Golfing with sightseeing spots
With hundreds of golf courses spread throughout Japan, one of the best ways to enjoy a golf trip is by including sightseeing around the area of your golfing itinerary, especially if you only have a couple of days to spare.
Apart from its world-class golf courses, Shizuoka Prefecture is a major producer of Japan's green tea which you can taste at famous plantations like Obuchi Sasaba and Imamiya. Golfing at Nikko means you can also visit its UNESCO-listed temple compound, while in Nagoya, its unique cuisine and castle are the highlights.
With its relatively high altitude and sophisticated cafes and shops, Karuizawa has many golf courses that are popular for beginners and female golfers. Hokkaido has the most golf facilities in Japan (with plenty near the airport), and here on this northern island, gourmands can indulge in its signature foods like Genghis Khan (barbecued lamb), Sapporo ramen, and fresh seafood.
There are plenty of golf courses in Kyushu where you can experience scenic rounds along with a relaxing soak in one of its many revered hot spring towns, including Beppu and Kurokawa. In Okinawa, you can tee off from one of over 20 picturesque golf courses by the beautiful sea.
