The Japan Alps Cycling Road was created by the Japan Alps Cycling Project, a passionate group of cyclists, to facilitate the exploration of the rugged mountains and natural beauty of Nagano Prefecture. The route can be tackled as a whole or in discrete sections, and offers challenging hill climbs, as well as cruises through gently undulating highlands and along the shores of Lake Suwa, all against the backdrop of the Japanese Alps. The 104-kilometer-long North Alps Cycling Course is one recommended route, offering cyclists the opportunity to cruise through the beautiful scenery of the Northern Alps. Enjoy breathtaking views and seasonal beauty, but be sure to stop and appreciate some of the prefecture's cultural sights, such as Matsumoto Castle.
